About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Technologist to join our team in Oshawa or Peterborough, ON.

As a Project Technologist, you will be responsible for conducting effective worker exposure and workplace monitoring, safety inspections, and audits. You will also assist in developing various types of hygiene, health, and safety documentation, prepare technical reports, and liaise with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments for hazardous materials, designated substances, mould, indoor air quality (IAQ), and industrial hygiene
  • Perform inspections and evaluate building systems and materials
  • Use various types of equipment to record measurements and collect samples
  • Assess building damages related to floods, water losses, smoke, and fire
  • Assist clients following flood and loss emergencies to get buildings dried, cleaned, or remediated and operational
  • Collect mould and bacteria samples
  • Identify and sample suspect asbestos, lead, and PCB-containing materials
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address IAQ and hazardous materials concerns
  • Inspect abatement and restoration contractors undertaking mould, asbestos, and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completed
  • Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples
  • Collect bulk material samples for testing for asbestos, lead, and other hazardous materials
Requirements
  • College diploma in Construction or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Engineering or equivalent/related post-secondary experience
  • Entry level to five years of experience
  • Hazardous Materials and Indoor Environmental Quality experience
  • C.E.T. or related designations will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelines
  • Familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.)
  • Experience reading and interpreting architectural drawings
  • Experience working with environmental monitoring equipment
  • Experience working in nuclear facilities is considered an asset
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Availability to work outside our core business hours and rotational weekends
  • Vehicle, valid driver's license, and insurance as travel around the designated region is required
