We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Manager to join our team in Toronto. This role will be responsible for promoting a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Health and Safety Initiatives: Develop and implement initiatives to promote a healthy and safe work environment, including training programs and compliance monitoring.
- Certification and Compliance: Verify certifications and monitor compliance for personnel and equipment, ensuring adherence to OHSA and company policies.
- Training and Development: Coordinate health and safety training in accordance with OHSA, company policies, and procedures, and generate statistics and reports for management.
- Production Floor Presence: Maintain a strong presence on the production floor to ensure safe work practices are followed, and recommend coaching or disciplinary action when necessary.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant provincial health and safety legislation and regulations, including MTO, MOL, and WSIB requirements.
- Partnerships and Investigations: Collaborate with Human Resources on investigations and return-to-work planning.
- MSDS Management: Manage and update Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- JHSC and Audits: Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance.
- Load Securement and Transportation: Ensure load securement and transportation compliance.
- Quality Management Program: Maintain a quality management program in compliance with company standards and CSA standards.
- Quality System Training: Conduct quality system training for personnel.
- Documentation and Inspection: Create and update documentation within the quality system and oversee inspection processes for incoming, in-process, and finished products.
- Corrective Action: Manage corrective action for quality-related issues.
- Education: Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Designation: Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a safety role, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge and Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information accurately and detail-oriented.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Current knowledge of OHS Regulation, Regulations for Industrial Establishments, MTO, MOL, WSIB Regulations, and Requirements.
- Availability: Ability to work an occasional afternoon shift.
