About the Role

The Technician IV – Plumber is a key member of our facilities maintenance team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities' mechanical and electrical systems. This role requires a strong background in plumbing and a valid Certificate of Qualification issued by the province in which the work is performed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate facility systems, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and routine services on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to map the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems in residential and commercial buildings.
  • Install, replace, and repair valves, pumps, and other piping system fixtures and equipment.
  • Test pipes for leaks and other problems.
  • Perform work in accordance with established processes and practices, and comply with internal and external requirements, including environmental, health and safety, fire protection, and building codes.

Requirements

  • College Diploma/Certification required.
  • Experience required as a licensed Plumber.
  • Strong ability to adhere to and properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolution skills.
  • Current knowledge of fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards, and ability to research and apply related codes and standards.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset, with the ability to perform work in a safe manner.
  • Strong client-service orientation, along with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Mentoring skills required to support lower-level technicians' development.
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby, and emergency call-outs as they arise.
  • Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements.
  • Valid drivers' license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working towards Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1.
  • Facilities Technician Certification through an accredited institution.
  • Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT).
