Job Summary:

The Production Scheduler will play a critical role in ensuring the timely delivery of manufactured goods by planning and coordinating manufacturing activities and resources for two manufacturing plants. This position will be responsible for liaising with various departments, including materials, engineering, operations, quality, and production, to ensure that goods are manufactured in a timely and efficient process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Production Management to configure shift schedules, allocate labor, and determine staffing levels to meet facility requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to execute production schedules and resolve any obstacles to on-time delivery.
  • Monitor and report on worker efficiency and production rates, providing insights on areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain weekly and daily production plans based on the monthly forecast from operations.
  • Evaluate capacity and ensure alignment with the forecast, identifying constraints and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Focus on bottlenecking manufacturing areas and propose solutions based on capacity analysis.
  • Coordinate outsourcing activities as a solution to capacity constraints.
  • Enhance scheduling visual management on the two manufacturing floors.
  • Assist in building and maintaining production key performance indicators and reporting.
  • Coordinate daily production activities between Production Supervisors, including scheduling build dates, communicating build delays, and generating production reports.
  • Provide wrap dates and communicate any changes to the shipping schedule.
  • Monitor progress of builds and communicate issues to ensure ship dates are met.
  • Create production schedules that reflect priority work, with full ownership of the internal scheduling software and accountability for accurate information.
  • Reconcile schedule attainment for daily, weekly, and monthly plans.
  • Perform data entry as required to record statistical information.
  • Coordinate material availability with the purchasing department and schedule jobs accordingly.
  • Communicate schedule requirements to the shop floor and accommodate requirements in a production plan that meets corporate objectives.
  • Identify overtime requirements and coordinate with Production Supervisors.
  • Update the scheduling system to maintain up-to-date status information.
  • Monitor, audit, and maintain performance to target along with the scheduling system at all times.

Requirements:

  • University degree or diploma in Operations Management or Commerce is an asset.
  • Strong analytical background and organization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of software tools (databases, spreadsheets, flowcharts, etc.) to perform forecasting, modeling, analysis, simulations, and flowchart functions would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
