Overview

Langara College is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Associate to join our People and Culture team. As a key member of the payroll process, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of employee payments.

Job Description

The Payroll Associate is responsible for auditing transactions entered by other users in the system to ensure that employees' pay is accurate and complete. This involves reviewing payroll data, identifying discrepancies, and making adjustments as necessary.

This position also requires generating reports, calculating remittances, responding to payroll inquiries, and communicating closely with other members of the People and Culture team to process employee information effectively.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Grade 12 and completion of National Payroll Institute Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification;
  • Four (4) years of recent related payroll experience utilizing a computerized payroll program, preferably in a large multi-union environment;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, and procedures employed in the preparation and processing of payrolls;
  • Sound knowledge of benefits policies, reconciliation, and regulations required for enrolment and changes made to records;
  • Intermediate level computer skills with a demonstrated ability to work with computer applications using Office 365 with proven expertise in using Excel; Knowledge of Workday or other ERP system an asset;
  • Sound knowledge of the statutes, collective agreements and rules and regulations governing the work performed;
  • Understanding of operational inter-dependence between Human Resources and Payroll an asset.
Estimated Salary Range

We estimate the salary range for this position to be between $55,000 and $70,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
