The Nutrition and Food Services team at Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Utility Worker. This role is responsible for supporting the preparation and serving of meals and supplies to patients, residents, and staff, while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation and Service: Assemble, portion, and serve patient and visitor meals, as well as prepare and assemble nourishments, special feedings, and beverages.
- Delivery and Collection: Deliver and distribute selective menus and patient meals, as well as collect soiled patient trays.
- Food Handling and Safety: Participate in receiving and storing supplies, receive and interpret patient diet/meal orders, and maintain basic work area safety and sanitation.
Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent considered an asset.
- Experience: Restaurant experience considered an asset.
- Skills: Customer service skills considered an asset, ability to work as part of a team, and ability to communicate effectively.
- Physical Demands: Frequent physical demands include extensive standing and walking, bending, lifting (maximum of 35-40lbs), pulling and pushing, and transferring/transporting equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Pot Room Requirements: Special footwear may be required for some food service areas, heavy lifting, physically demanding, repetitive tasks, and working independently.
Compensation and Benefits:
$20.02 hourly
