About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Financial Analyst/Underwriter to join our Contract Surety team As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for underwriting contract surety accounts by reviewing and interpreting financial statements to conduct financial and credit risk analysis, making recommendations and decisions to support the Contract Surety team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of contract surety accounts
  • Analyze and secure underwriting data, perform financial analysis and apply critical thinking on underwriting decisions and client relationship issues
  • Assess risk and recommend approval of new and renewing contract surety facilities
  • Prioritize workflow to maximize productivity and meet deadlines
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of special acceptances to reinsurers
  • Maintain quality control and profitable growth
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of construction industry trends, market conditions, and current challenges and opportunities
  • Develop broker relationships and marketing strategies to further new business development opportunities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • 2-3 years of surety or related business experience is considered an asset
  • Construction experience/knowledge is considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of financial statements
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • A history of providing excellent customer service and sound judgment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with co-workers in a team setting
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products
  • Bilingualism in French and English, written and spoken, is an asset
