We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Land Use Planner to join our team at Parsons Corporation. As a key member of our Critical Infrastructure team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our communities.
About the Role:The successful candidate will have a strong background in land use planning, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a related field. You will be responsible for leading the completion of area, site, and corridor land use studies and master plans, as well as developing policy analyses, planning rationales, and feasibility studies.
You will also manage a variety of planning applications, including Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw Amendments, Site Plan Control, Plans of Subdivision, Severances, and Minor Variances. Additionally, you will prepare and present materials to clients and/or public meetings, committees, and councils.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the completion of area, site, and corridor land use studies and master plans
- Develop policy analyses, planning rationales, and feasibility studies
- Manage a variety of planning applications, including Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw Amendments, Site Plan Control, Plans of Subdivision, Severances, and Minor Variances
- Prepare and present materials to clients and/or public meetings, committees, and councils
- Prepare environmental assessment studies, including evaluation of alternatives as a land use and policy subject matter expert
- Coordinate with municipal, provincial, and federal staff and other approval agencies in pursuit of approvals
- Negotiate or assist in negotiating relevant agreements and conditions
- Prepare illustrative graphics and presentations
- Prepare and execute stakeholder engagement strategies and participate in public meetings
- Undergraduate degree in Planning or degree related to planning
- Minimum of 7 years of related and progressive experience
- Positive attitude towards work, colleagues, and supportive of a team environment
- Working knowledge of land development process and land use and infrastructure planning in Ontario
- Takes ownership in projects and sees them through from start to finish
- Interest in transit-oriented development, urban mobility, urban design, and placemaking
- Strong initiative, independence, and problem-solving skills
- Good critical thinking and interpersonal skills
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and visual design software programs
- Experience or interest in managing or coordinating complicated projects
- Excellent English written and oral communications skills
- Ability to communicate (oral and written) in French is considered an asset
- Valid driver's license
- Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners
