- Build and Install Structures: Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems to create safe and secure structures.
- Fit and Install Fixtures: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to ensure a smooth and functional finish.
- Estimate and Manage Materials: Estimate costs and materials for projects, ensuring that all necessary materials are on hand and that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Maintain and Repair Structures: Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments to ensure they remain safe and functional.
- Education and Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in carpentry, with a secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Work Environment: Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, in noisy, dusty, and outdoors environments.
- Work Setting: Willingness to work in construction, various locations, renovation, and willing to relocate.
- Level of Expertise: Maintenance and repair expertise, with experience in building and installing structures, fitting and installing fixtures, estimating and managing materials, and maintaining and repairing structures.
- Equipment and Machinery Experience: Experience with hand tools and willingness to travel regularly.
- Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, handle heavy loads, work with minimal supervision, and meet tight deadlines.
- Own Tools/Equipment: Possession of steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, and safety vest.
- Personal Suitability: Judgement, team player, punctuality, and willingness to work in a physically demanding environment.
