Bureau Veritas Group is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our Food Microbiology Laboratory team in Burnaby. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our laboratory operations, ensuring the accuracy and quality of our test results, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare samples for analysis, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory activities, including sample preparation, testing, and results.
- Dispose of waste and perform general laboratory clean-up as needed.
- Monitor and maintain adequate supplies, including chemicals, reagents, and equipment.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor or Laboratory Manager.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform simple calculations and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Accurate and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and learn quickly.
Working Conditions:
- High level of work production in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with potential for repetition and long periods of standing.
