Job Summary:

The Medical Radiation Technologist – Nuclear Medicine is a key member of the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Sault Area Hospital. This role is responsible for the efficient and effective completion of ordered Nuclear Medicine examinations and the day-to-day operation of the area to which they are assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform imaging and in-vivo non-imaging and in-vitro procedures under the direction of the Technical Supervisor and Medical Directors.
  • Conduct quality assurance procedures and report any significant changes.
  • Provide appropriate patient preparation and care.
  • Prepare and dispense radiopharmaceutical kits and generators.
  • Administer radiopharmaceutical doses with proper venipuncture and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain the radiopharmaceutical laboratory, including receiving, logging, storing, and disposal.
  • Follow appropriate protection procedures and adhere to regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform decontamination procedures and maintain equipment and work areas.
  • Assist in organizing daily workloads and perform general office duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an Accredited School of Medical Radiation Technology (Nuclear Medicine).
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario.
  • Registration in Nuclear Medicine.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and telephone skills.
  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment.
  • Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to organize time effectively to perform duties.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate to perform duties.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Scintillation cameras.
  • Survey meters.
  • Scintillation counters and probes.
  • Dose calibrators.
  • Computer.
  • Sound knowledge of all Nuclear Medicine Procedures as ordered by a qualified practitioner.
