Greenstaff Medical Canada is seeking a skilled and compassionate Recreational Therapist to join their team in Lumby, BC, Canada. As a Recreational Therapist with this company, you will play a vital role in enhancing the physical, emotional, and social well-being of individuals across various age groups and health conditions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating recreational therapy programs that cater to diverse populations, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those with chronic illnesses. This will involve assessing clients' needs, abilities, and interests to develop individualized therapy plans, as well as collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support clients' goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess clients' needs, abilities, and interests to develop individualized therapy plans.
  • Design and facilitate therapeutic recreation activities, including arts, music, sports, and social events.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals and family members, to support clients' goals.
  • Document progress and adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Promote inclusive, engaging, and safe environments during activities.
  • Educate clients and families on the benefits of recreational therapy and encourage participation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Recreational Therapy, Leisure Studies from an accredited School of Recreation Therapy.
  • Current certification with the British Columbia Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA).
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those with chronic illnesses.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare facility.
  • Experience in gerontology an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creativity, adaptability, and a passion for improving quality of life through recreation.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of $40.00-$43.00 per hour.
  • No less than 36 hours per week.
  • Overtime pay at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate.
