Senior Financial Governance Specialist

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Financial Governance Specialist to join our team at Windfall Mining Group in Montreal, Canada. As a Senior Financial Governance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the company's internal control and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance for its assets in accordance with SEC requirements and the company's SOX policy.
Key Responsibilities:- SOX Compliance Program Management: Ensure compliance with the company's SOX and SEC requirements regarding Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and Internal Controls over Sustainability Reporting (ICSR), especially in key areas.
- Design and Implementation: Design and implement SOX internal controls as determined by the company's SOX department, covering ICFR, ICSR, and IT reporting environments, including SAP.
- Documentation and Project Management: Properly document SOX controls for all Canadian assets in a Risk and Control Matrix (RACM) and act as Project Manager for the implementation of SOX controls in Canada as per the company's SOX department requirements.
- Testing and Attestation: Facilitate SOX control testing, including control self-assessments, walkthroughs, and operational effectiveness testing, and oversee the quarterly SOX attestation process for all Canadian assets.
- Reporting and Liaison: Regularly report to the group's SOX department and participate in key meetings and calls, and liaise with and manage internal and external auditors regarding audits of the internal control environment and resolve raised issues.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related fields, and a Master's degree in internal control, risk management, accounting, or a similar governance-related field.
- Experience: At least five years of experience in internal control, governance, risk management, or related areas.
- Skills: Advanced Excel skills, project management, accounting knowledge, and knowledge of COSO 2013 (preferred but not mandatory).
- Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
