Job Summary

WEST Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Wetland Biologist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and conducting wetland assessments, impact studies, and restoration projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct wetland assessments, impact studies, and restoration projects
  • Develop and implement scientific consulting solutions for clients
  • Write reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders
  • Communicate with clients and project managers to understand their needs and deliverables
  • Manage and coordinate fieldwork and data collection
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve project goals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Legally allowed to work in Canada
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in biological sciences, environmental sciences, or related discipline
  • At least 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions
  • Wetland classification skills in boreal, parkland, and prairie habitats
  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro and Desktop Suite, QGIS, and/or Google Earth
  • Ability to work long days and hike in rugged terrain
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under time constraints and meet deliverable targets and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Wetland practitioner status or immediately eligible
  • P. Biol. or BIT (or other PRO-10) designation or immediately eligible
  • Experience conducting wildlife surveys, water quality monitoring, or fisheries
  • Experience with soils and/or vegetation surveys
