Job Description

This is a challenging and rewarding role for a Senior Wetland Biologist to join our team at WEST Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading wetland assessments, classifications, and impact assessments, as well as developing mitigation plans and restoration strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead wetland assessments, classifications, and impact assessments
  • Develop mitigation plans and restoration strategies
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, clients, and landowners to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Conduct fieldwork, including hiking in rugged terrain and working in extreme weather conditions
  • Manage and coordinate project logistics, including scheduling and budgeting
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior staff members
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Legally allowed to work in Canada
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in biological sciences, environmental sciences, or related discipline
  • At least 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions
  • Wetland classification skills in boreal, parkland, and prairie habitats
  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro and Desktop Suite, and/or QGIS and/or Google Earth

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Wetland practitioner status or immediately eligible
  • P. Biol. or BIT (or other PRO-10) designation or immediately eligible
  • Experience conducting wildlife surveys, water quality monitoring, or fisheries
  • Experience with soils and/or vegetation surveys
