Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Governance & Policy:
    • Establish a data governance framework that aligns with CAPREIT's objectives and goals.
    • Develop a data strategy that supports business growth and decision-making.
    • Formalize the data governance committee and roles, ensuring clear accountability and ownership.
    • Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements.
    • Establish processes to ensure data is managed in compliance with industry standards.
    • Define roles and responsibilities for data governance across departments and business units.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure data integration across business systems and platforms.
    • Develop training programs to educate employees on data governance policies and best practices.
    • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance data governance practices.
  • Data Collection, Identification & Definition:
    • Identify key business critical processes and establish ownership for each line of business.
    • Identify and catalogue process behaviors (manual, automated, etc.).
    • For each key business critical process, identify key critical datasets used by each line of business.
    • Establish definitions for key terms and create an enterprise glossary.
  • Data Quality:
    • Score datasets through a calculated approach to measure data readiness (completeness, accuracy, conformity, integrity).
    • Develop controls to monitor data quality and integrity throughout the organization.
    • Design strategies to ensure data is captured, stored, and transmitted in a secure and compliant manner.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Records Management, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of data governance policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with different business systems and platforms.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with different departments and stakeholders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing projects.
