Part Time Residential Counsellor, Overnight Awake Position

We are seeking a qualified Part Time Residential Counsellor, Overnight Awake to join our team at The Salvation Army. This position will provide support for residents' personal development and advocate on their behalf in collaboration with colleagues and healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:- Support residents' personal development through individual support planning and advocate on their behalf in community settings.
- Remain awake and active throughout the night, supporting residents during their awake hours and ensuring their well-being.
- Complete documentation and maintain records as required.
- Administer medications as prescribed.
- Provide learning opportunities utilizing agency and community resources.
- Foster independence in residents by supervising and assisting with meal preparation and clean-up.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Support co-workers, students, and family members as needed.
- Follow and promote The Salvation Army's mission and purpose.
- Completed 2–3-year Developmental Services Worker Diploma or equivalent degree/diploma in human services.
- Valid and current Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR Level C Certificate.
- Ability to achieve Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certificate.
- Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and a current Driver's abstract.
- Minimum 6 months to 1-year experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Experience with writing, implementing, and updating Individual Support Planning.
- Medication administration experience preferred.
- Strong counselling and de-escalation support skills.
- Ability to complete mandatory training and undergo applicable screening and background checks.
- Willingness to develop an understanding and support for The Salvation Army's mission and purpose.
