123Dentist, Canada's largest majority dentist-owned network of dental practices, seeks an experienced Corporate Legal Counsel to join its high-performing Legal Department. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal guidance across a wide range of matters, including real estate, corporate, employment, and regulatory issues.

Reporting directly to the Vice President and General Counsel, the Corporate Legal Counsel will work closely with operations and corporate development teams to support the company's rapidly expanding countrywide network of dental practices. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to become a generalist, working on various legal-related tasks and projects.

Key responsibilities will include providing legal advice to the company and its network of dental clinics, assisting with day-to-day corporate legal matters, overseeing regulatory compliance, and supporting M&A transactions. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of broad corporate/commercial experience and a strong understanding of legal disciplines, including corporate law, commercial contracting, employment law, and real estate.

The successful candidate will be a team player with strong communication and drafting skills, a client-focused orientation, and a desire to learn and broaden their skillset. They will thrive in a lean, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial environment and be comfortable working in a small team. Proficiency in French is an asset.

The Corporate Legal Counsel will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic legal guidance to the company and its network of dental clinics
  • Assisting with day-to-day corporate legal matters, including real estate, employment, and corporate issues
  • Overseeing regulatory compliance and ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations
  • Supporting M&A transactions and post-closing integration
  • Working collaboratively with the Legal Department and other internal departments to align legal strategies with business objectives

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree and JD/LLB
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (or another Provincial equivalent)
  • 2 to 4 years of strong corporate law experience gained at a well-regarded law firm or organization
  • Proven familiarity with broad legal disciplines, including corporate law, commercial contracting, employment law, and real estate
  • Ability to view commercial, business, and risk issues through a legal lens
  • Strong drafting, communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Independent self-starter who can hit the ground running with minimal supervision
  • Works well in a small team environment
  • Highly driven, with a natural bias to action
  • Thrives under pressure and thinks sharply on their feet
