Job Title: Corporate Legal Counsel

Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Legal Counsel to join its dynamic legal team. As a key member of the team, you will provide legal advice to the leadership and staff of CAMH, with a focus on supporting the organization's research enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice to CAMH's leadership and staff on various matters, including commercial contracts, regulatory law, corporate policies, research initiatives, and general research-related governance.
  • Work closely with the research legal team to provide practical and exceptional legal services.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing structures and processes to support the activities of the research legal team.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, external peer hospital legal counsel, and external legal counsel.
Requirements:
  • Law degree (LLB or JD) and a lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO).
  • 3-5 years of post-call experience in private practice, in-house, or a combination thereof.
  • Experience in general corporate/commercial, intellectual property, and privacy law, as well as contract negotiation.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience working in the hospital/healthcare or clinical research setting.
  • Experience with research-related agreements, including clinical trial agreements, collaboration agreements, licensing agreements, services agreements, funding agreements, material transfer agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
