Sessional Instructor Opportunity in Access to Practical Nursing

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as a Sessional Instructor in the Access to Practical Nursing Diploma program. This is a part-time position involving teaching theory, lab, and practice courses via a face-to-face delivery method at the Comox Valley campus. Practicum placements will take place in various practice settings and may require travel. Applicants must have access to reliable transportation.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with students and want to make a difference in their lives. As a Sessional Instructor, you will be responsible for implementing creative strategies in the preparation and delivery of theory, lab, and practice activities. You will also use your initiative in providing documentation and follow-up with regard to student concerns and problem resolution.
The ideal candidate will have a current practising license as an LPN, NP, RN, or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP). They will also have one of the following credentials in adult education from an accredited post-secondary institution: Provincial Instructor diploma (PID), formal educational equivalent to PID, or proof of completion of a formal Prior Learning Assessment (PLA). A minimum of three years recent related practice experience is also required, along with current registration with BCCNM and current CPR level HCP.
Responsibilities and Expectations
• Teach theory, lab, and practice courses via a face-to-face delivery method at the Comox Valley campus;
• Plan and prepare learning materials for instructional environments;
• Use a variety of approaches and materials, as appropriate, in order to address different learning needs;
• Implement creative strategies in the preparation and delivery of theory, lab, and practice activities;
• Direct student learning in a positive, supportive, and caring environment;
• Be available to students regularly during scheduled office hours and classroom hours, to discuss their progress and other issues that influence their learning;
• Maintain records of student enrollment and achievement and other records required by the College and affiliated agencies.
