Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy Analyst to join our Policy & Planning department at the Law Society of British Columbia. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert research, analysis, and advice on complex policy issues affecting our regulatory responsibilities and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy Development: Develop policy frameworks and recommendations to support the translation of our strategic priorities into viable policy and program changes.
  • Issues Management: Identify emerging policy issues, prepare recommendations, and advise senior management and committees on key policy matters.
  • Analysis and Research: Conduct in-depth analysis and research on social, economic, and legal issues associated with our objectives, and provide strategic policy alternatives or significant changes to our regulation and programs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with government, the public, and professional bodies to effect analysis or development of policy recommendations.
  • Regulatory Frameworks: Identify and evaluate similar regulatory frameworks and programs in other jurisdictions or professions, and recommend any appropriate changes to our regulation and programs.
  • Communication: Prepare submissions to government or other external bodies that reflect our policy positions.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in public administration, public policy, social sciences, or a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years recent related experience in providing policy analysis and working in a policy environment.
  • Highly analytical with superior abilities in research and writing, and excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work co-operatively within diverse teams, work groups, and across an organization to achieve group and organizational goals.
