About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Finish Carpenter to join our team at Ottawa Finish Carpentry Inc. As a Finish Carpenter, you will be responsible for ensuring that all carpentry work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements and ensure that all carpentry work is completed according to plan.

  • Prepare and Install Carpentry Work

Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools, and measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.

  • Schedule and Coordinate Work

Schedule and coordinate work on sites, ensuring that all carpentry work is completed on time and to the highest standards of quality.

  • Train and Mentor Apprentices

Instruct apprentices and provide guidance and support to ensure that they develop the skills and knowledge required to become skilled Finish Carpenters.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience

No degree, certificate, or diploma is required, but 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in the field of carpentry is preferred.

  • Work Environment

The work environment is noisy and dusty, and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment is required.

  • Work Setting

The work setting is in a construction, renovation, commercial, and residential environment.

  • Equipment and Machinery Experience

Experience with hand tools and the ability to use safety equipment and gear, including steel-toed safety boots, a hard hat, and safety glasses/goggles, is required.
