Job Summary

The Open Educational Resource (OER) Grant Project Student Assistant provides critical support for the development and implementation of OER grant projects at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. This role involves working closely with the OER Grant project lead to ensure the successful execution of project objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Development: Assist in the creation of high-quality educational content for OER grant projects, including writing, editing, and formatting.
  • Platform Support: Provide technical support for the chosen platform (e.g., Pressbooks) or tool (e.g., H5P) used for OER grant project publishing.
  • Research and Development: Conduct library and online research to ensure the accuracy and relevance of project content, as well as to identify best practices for accessibility and attribution.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and ensure that all project content meets the required standards for accessibility, citation, and attribution.
  • Project Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to the OER Grant project lead on project progress and suggest improvements.
  • Collaboration: Meet with the OER Grant project lead to discuss project updates, workflow, and any challenges that may arise.
Qualifications
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Familiarity with the subject matter of the OER grant project is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Preference given to students with experience in one or more of the following areas: open platforms (e.g., Pressbooks, WordPress, H5P), open practices, licensing, and values, and best practices for accessibility in an online environment.
Working at Kwantlen Polytechnic University

This position is reserved for KPU students. Student Assistants are paid according to the following rates: less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage; one year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%; with a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%.
