Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team as a Field Service Technician in British Columbia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of mechanical aspects of Battery Electric mining equipment and components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and servicing of equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Planning and execution of maintenance tasks, including the procurement of necessary tools and parts.
  • Commissioning of new equipment, including pre-delivery inspections and hot commissioning at customer sites.
  • Root cause analysis and troubleshooting of mechanical issues to identify and resolve problems.
  • Conducting maintenance and repair work, including preventive and cost-efficient repairs.
  • Providing technical support to customers, including suggesting improvements to products and equipment.
  • Using knowledge and experience to solve standard problems for customers.
  • Understanding system functionality and interactions of hydraulics, mechanics, electric, automation, pneumatics, and materials.
  • Completing maintenance reports and documenting work completed, including obtaining customer authorization for invoicing.
  • Collecting technical feedback from customers and inputting it into a database.
  • Assigning tasks to junior staff and guiding them in their completion.
  • Coaching customer technicians on basic servicing and maintenance principles.
  • Ensuring all routine work procedures are carried out according to safety standards.
Requirements
  • Diploma in a Mechanical or Electrical field and Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic License.
  • At least 3 years of related experience with mining equipment, with previous experience with Sandvik equipment being an asset.
  • Excellent proficiency in reading schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues with mining equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Western Canada as required.
  • Ability and willingness to work varied shifts as required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
