Job Summary
Hydro One Networks Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cyber Security Analyst to join our team for a 4-6 month period. As a Cyber Security Analyst, you will play a critical role in defending our networks against cyber attacks and proactively assessing existing defenses.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the efforts of cybersecurity projects to ensure the security of our networks and systems.
- Support the efforts of cybersecurity metrics collections and dashboard reporting to provide insights into our security posture.
- Participate in incident response activities and drills to ensure our team is prepared to respond to security incidents.
- Triage security incidents and security administration requests to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Conduct vulnerability management and remediation tracking to identify and address potential security risks.
- Analyze threat intelligence feeds and disseminate information to the team to stay informed about emerging threats.
- Conduct EDR telemetry analysis to identify potential security threats.
- Coordinate penetration testing efforts to ensure our systems are secure.
- Tune IPS systems to ensure they are effective in detecting and preventing security threats.
- Correlate, triage, and respond to SIEM events to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Configure and monitor DLP systems to prevent data breaches.
- Conduct threat hunting activities to identify potential security threats.
General Accountabilities
- Participate in business and IT initiated projects to ensure security requirements are defined and captured.
- Support IT/OT security operations efforts to ensure the security of our networks and systems.
- Participate in the ongoing development of Hydro One Security Policy, Procedures, and Guidelines.
- Provide strong client service orientation and a desire to help the business meet their objectives.
Professional Development
- Learn security analysis techniques to improve our security posture.
- Develop skills protecting organizations by learning policy, procedures, and security tools related to the profession.
- Develop skills relating to prioritization based on risk to ensure effective security decision-making.
Education and Experience
Discipline: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security
Academic Level: Undergraduate in 3rd year or higher.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Computer Skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
- Prior work experience in or familiarity with the utility industry.
- An understanding of information security principles and processes.
- Knowledge of the NERC CIP Standards or the NIST Cybersecurity framework.
- Understanding of regulatory standards and auditing processes.
