Job Title: Elementary Teacher

We are seeking an Elementary Teacher to join our team at School District #41 (Burnaby) for our MACC Grade 6/7 Class.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a grade 6/7 class in our MACC program, which is an interdisciplinary, inquiry-based program for high ability learners. The program provides students with the opportunity to develop a depth and breadth of understanding of grade level curriculum in a rigorous, creative and intellectually stimulating environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a differentiated curriculum that meets the needs of high ability learners
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver project-based learning experiences
  • Assess and report on student progress, using data to inform instruction
  • Provide support and guidance to students, including those with diverse learning needs
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Education (Elementary) degree or academic equivalent
  • Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate
  • Senior level coursework, experience and/or demonstrated effectiveness in working with elementary high ability students
  • Skills in developing IEPs for gifted students
  • Ability to modify teaching approaches and adapt curriculum to meet individual learner needs
