Job Summary

Newmont Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mine Planning Engineer to provide technical support to our surface operations in Timmins, ON. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing data-driven strategic plans, tracking compliance to plans, and assessing the impacts of any variance to plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate 3-month to 2-year production plans aligning with the approved budget using Deswik scheduling tools.
  • Derive headcount and equipment hours required to achieve the forecast to support cost model updates in XERAS.
  • Effectively communicate forecast assumptions, plans, physicals, and equipment resources to all stakeholders.
  • Update monthly production and equipment metrics to identify trends in historic data and advise on trends and demonstrated performance for strategic decision making.
  • Track compliance to plan and identify opportunities to improve performance.
  • Generate meaningful charts, figures, or graphs of analyzed data to show identified areas of potential improvement.
Requirements
  • Completion of a post-secondary education program in mine technology/engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in the mining industry with 3 years in mine planning.
  • Experience in mine design and scheduling is essential with preference to individuals who have used Deswik.
  • Ability to organize workloads and modify priorities in a dynamic fast-paced continuous production environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to work with others.
  • Strong analytical skills with Excel is required.
Working Conditions

This is a site-based position supporting our Timmins operation.

The work schedule is 4 days on 3 days off. As such, if you do not live in the area, relocation is required.
