About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mine Planning Engineer to join our team at Newmont Inc. in Timmins, ON. As a key member of our planning team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality long-term mine planning work packages that support our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain accurate and reliable long-term mine plans, including reserves and resource estimation, strategic mine planning, and life-of-asset infrastructure planning.
  • Collaborate with site functions to determine plan and design input parameters and assumptions, and provide visible leadership in support of health, safety, security, and S&ER programs.
  • Conduct economic evaluations on mid-to-long-term development and stoping layouts, and execute long-term mine planning standard procedures, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Liaise with geology and geotechnical engineers, mine operations, and SME function to ensure a single integrated life-of-asset business plan for the site.
  • Support site projects and studies work, and contribute to strategic components of Full Potential and Strategic Resource Development (SRD) work as required.
Requirements
  • A B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or equivalent, with P.Eng. qualification desirable.
  • Experience in a range of mine planning horizons, including long-term mine planning, production support, mine operations, and design in large and diversified mine sites.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence, and high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to build and maintain a strong communications network with planning peers, Technical Services Managers, Project/Study Directors, Mine Managers, and JV partner representatives.
  • High level of competence in the use of mine planning software, including optimization techniques, and strong experience in the use of Deswik software.
Working Conditions
  • The position is nominally located at Porcupine Gold Mines in Timmins, ON.
  • The schedule is 4 days on, 3 days off.
  • Will be required to access mining and processing areas, rough terrain, or exploration sites.
  • Frequent working at a computer/monitor or keyboard.
