We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Compliance Surveillance Leader to join our team at Scotiabank. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a dynamic team of compliance professionals in conducting multijurisdictional trade surveillance and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a global team of compliance professionals in supporting surveillance activities with applicable regulations.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain risk assessments and programs to drive compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and execute business strategies, annual plans, and ongoing initiatives to strengthen the global surveillance program.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior stakeholders on the status of regulatory compliance.
  • Foster a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team.
Requirements
  • College Diploma or University Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of management experience or leading a team of direct reports.
  • 5 or more years of directly relevant investment industry experience with a bank, buy-side firm, or IIROC member firm in a senior compliance or surveillance role.
  • Exposure to automated trade surveillance solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills.
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft applications and familiarity with internet-related applications used to facilitate compliance research.
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Capable of simultaneously handling multiple tasks and meeting stringent deadlines.
