Job Title: Youth Shelter Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to fill the role of Youth Shelter Manager at our organization. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for the overall management and operations of our Youth Shelter, ensuring the highest level of care and support for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a housing-first strategy that prioritizes the social determinants of health.
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the shelter, including case management and programming for residents.
  • Participate in the development and review of agency practices and programs.
  • Build and manage a team of frontline employees who are accountable, caring, and responsive to client needs.
  • Lead performance management initiatives and support the growth and development of staff.
  • Ensure data integrity and evidence-based outcomes through accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Manage intake and admissions, program plans, action plans, and discharges of residents.
  • Maintain professional standards in client documentation and case management.
  • Participate in on-call support and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Create a safe and secure environment for all youth accessing services at the shelter.
  • Ensure the facility meets health and safety standards.
  • Contribute to the development of the yearly budgeting process and oversee the annual residential budget.
  • Foster a positive and supportive working environment that promotes labor relations and employee engagement.
Requirements:
  • University degree or equivalent in a related social services field, with a Master's degree considered an asset.
  • At least 35 years of experience working as a supervisor/manager in the social service sector, preferably with a focus on youth homelessness.
  • Strong supervisory skills with the ability to motivate employees and foster growth and development.
  • Understanding of issues related to youth homelessness and the barriers youth face in attaining and maintaining housing.
  • Experience in recruiting and supervising program staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in providing guidance to the staff team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working with budgets, funding proposals, and completing funding requirements.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, due to the 24-hour nature of the organization's operations.
