Financial Controller Assistant

Our construction client in Kitchener is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their team. This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and be responsible for managing the accounting month-end, financial statements, and project accounting.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the month-end process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Oversee the monthly project draw, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Monitor budgets and forecasts, providing insights to inform business decisions
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to analyze project financials and identify areas for improvement
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity
- Work closely with management to develop strategic plans and drive business growth
- Lead and manage accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery
- Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- CPA designation or close to completion, with a solid grasp of financial regulations and compliance
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders
