Plant Operations Director

Formica Corporation is a leading manufacturer of high-quality laminate products and decorative surfacing materials. We are seeking a Plant Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of our St-Jean manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to plant staff and hourly employees through effective communication, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Coordinate and oversee all plant activities, ensuring manufacturing objectives are met through effective planning and delegation.
  • Develop and implement a lean manufacturing program to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage annual operating budgets, including cost improvement goals and capital expenditures.
  • Implement effective systems to control costs and ensure compliance with corporate guidelines on employee health and safety, environmental protection, and quality control.
  • Drive continuous improvements in all processes and departments, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Develop and manage a talent pool to meet current and future needs of the facility, through effective recruiting, training, and employee development.

Requirements:

  • Proven knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma processes.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a track record of functioning successfully in a collegial, open, integrated management team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and retain well-qualified individuals.
  • Ability to communicate, energize, and motivate people in a variety of business functions, with a passion for achieving results.
  • Experience managing a union facility, with demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships.
  • Bilingual – French/English.
  • Preferably an undergraduate degree in Engineering.
