Heavy Equipment Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at Brandt, a leading manufacturer and distributor of heavy equipment and machinery. As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of heavy duty equipment in a shop and field environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and diagnose the working condition of heavy equipment, including construction, aggregate, and forestry-based equipment
  • Efficiently assemble, disassemble, and repair heavy equipment, using secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Operate hoisting devices to position machinery and parts during assembly, installation, and/or repair activities
  • Test and provide constructive feedback on existing and newly manufactured industrial equipment
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning machinery and equipment
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Prepare electronic inspection and service reports
  • Use parts catalogues to locate parts and order parts from parts personnel
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required

Requirements:

  • Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred
  • Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade preferred
  • Must be committed to customer service and service excellence
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
