Unit Overview

The 6 South Surgical Trauma Unit at Hamilton Health Sciences is a dynamic and fast-paced environment that cares for a variety of patient populations, including trauma, general surgery, ENT, and urology patients. As a Registered Nurse on this unit, you will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team and provide nursing care according to the standards of practice for Registered Nurses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and evaluate patient care
  • Provide nursing care in both the ward and step-down unit settings
  • Collaborate with the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department at HGH

Requirements

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nursing of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Step-down course, ECG monitoring education, and experience recommended
  • Recent acute surgical nursing experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Nursing Care Planning process
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize problem-solving and critical thinking techniques effectively
