Commercial Real Estate Law Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Real Estate Law Specialist to join our Legal Department in Toronto. This is a twenty-four month contract position.
Key Responsibilities- Commercial Leasing and Acquisition: Draft and negotiate complex commercial leases, agreements of purchase and sale for real property, and ancillary legal documents.
- Due Diligence and Title Matters: Act and advise on title, off-title, zoning, construction, and other due diligence matters.
- Support to Lawyers and Law Clerks: Provide support to lawyers and other law clerks in the Legal Department.
- Process Improvement and Efficiency: Identify and implement process improvements and working efficiencies within the Legal team and across the business.
- Document Development and Maintenance: Build precedent and template documents and augment existing Legal Department resources.
- Experience: Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial leases, agreements of purchase and sale for real property, and ancillary legal documents.
- Education and Certification: Being licensed as a paralegal, a law clerk designation, or equivalent law clerk education will be an asset.
- Background: Prior experience at a law firm or in-house from a major corporation will be an asset.
- Skills: Outstanding analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills, with an ability to learn quickly and apply technical skills to a wide range of business initiatives.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work on cross-functional teams.
- Work Ethic: Strong work ethic with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
