Position Overview

As a key member of the Fleet Maintenance team at the Vancouver Airport Authority, you will play a vital role in ensuring the continued success and future vision of our organization. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and repair a wide variety of specialized and heavy-duty equipment, including fire trucks, winter runway trucks, sweepers, chemical application vehicles, mowers, and trucks with diesel and gas engines and various attachments.

The ideal candidate will have three years of recent experience in a related field, supplemented by a Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic (TTM) or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET). You will possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision. Additionally, you will have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize safety.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain and repair emergency rescue and operations vehicles and equipment, including 8x8 and 6x6 fire trucks, air stairs, emergency response light vehicles, foam trailers, and pumps.
- Maintain and repair summer operations vehicles and equipment, such as mowers, backhoes, excavators, ancillary attachments, and road maintenance equipment.
- Maintain and repair winter operations vehicles and equipment for snow and ice control.
- Maintain and repair specialty equipment and tooling.
- Plan, schedule, and organize work areas and facilities.
- Lead activities and share knowledge with assigned apprentices.

Key Qualifications

- Three years of recent experience in a related field, supplemented by a Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic (TTM) or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize safety.

- A competitive salary range of $76,809 to $100,387 per annum, based on 40 hours per week.
