Job Summary

The Manitoba Government is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment used in highway construction and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems with heavy-duty equipment, including diesel and gas engines.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and filter replacements.
  • Conduct welding repairs and fabricate mechanical parts as needed.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, using organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality work and efficient workflow.
Requirements
  • Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Licence or equivalent certification.
  • Truck/Trailer Safety certificate or ability to obtain.
  • MOPIA certificate or ability to obtain.
  • Valid full-stage Class 3 Manitoba Drivers licence with air endorsement or willingness to acquire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising staff and providing direction and managing quality of work.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health procedures and practices.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
