About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and resourceful student to join our Water Resources Team in Calgary. As a Student Geologist, you will work alongside industry-leading professionals to complete important projects and develop the skills you need to build an exciting career.

The successful candidate will support our hydrogeologists in technical assessments, water data management, development of water management plans, water licensing and reporting, and development of water data visualizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting Cenovus hydrogeologists in technical work including groundwater source and wastewater disposal assessments, geologic/hydrogeologic mapping of aquifers using well logs, regional and site groundwater flow assessments, contaminant hydrogeology and groundwater risk assessments, base of groundwater protection assessments, hydrogeologic reporting, and review and assessment of water quality data
  • Water data management
  • Development of water management plans
  • Surface water and groundwater licensing and reporting
  • Utilizing data analytics software to create water data visualizations

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application
  • Available to begin work in May 2025
  • Resourceful, strong communicator and collaborator
  • Completion of undergraduate course in physical and/or contaminant hydrogeology a benefit
  • Experience with geologic mapping/log interpretation a benefit

Education

  • Must be enrolled in a Geology or Environmental Engineering Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term
  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered
  • New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities
