Union Labour Relations Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Union Labour Relations Officer to join our team at the Canadian Association of Labour Media. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in promoting and protecting the rights of workers across Alberta.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of labour relations, human rights, workers' compensation, and health and safety. They will be able to approach interactions with a strong emotional intelligence and an interest-based approach. The ideal candidate will have excellent time-management, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to take direction, set goals, and maintain attention to detail.

We are looking for someone with a commitment to union solidarity principles, equity, diversity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will have experience with collective bargaining, including conducting proposals, negotiations, ratification meetings, and votes. They will also have a strong community leadership background, with activism in social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Union Labour Relations Officer will be responsible for leading and mentoring Membership Engagement activities, including pre-planning, strategic communication, and combining strategy and traditional union values. They will also be expected to engage in community events to increase their cultural fluency and improve their representation of our culturally diverse membership.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Class 5 driver's license and a minimum of six (6) years of continuous driving experience, with no major convictions, no more than three (3) minor convictions, and no claims/accidents in the last three (3) years. A driver's experience letter may be required.
