About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist, Property Treaty to support our property reinsurance portfolio and provide high-quality analysis and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite Property Treaty business in accordance with MROC's and Group-wide guidelines and appetite
  • Evaluate submissions, review treaty contracts, assess and price business, and perform all necessary underwriting functions
  • Stay current with all applicable UW guidelines
  • Contribute proactively to the MROC Client Teams in negotiations with cedents and brokers
  • Maintain contact with the industry in general by attending industry functions on a regular basis
  • Monitor market conditions and the activities of MROC's existing and potential cedents and reinsurance competitors
Actuarial & Technical Pricing
  • Prepare and model property Nat-Cat data with the models used at Munich Re
  • Prepare treaty reinsurance pricing independently, including assessing and discussing modeling results internally and externally
  • Contribute to the development of pricing assumptions and strategies
  • Develop or enhance concepts, methods, and tools to quantify and monitor accumulation of nat-cat risks across the property treaty portfolio
Requirements
  • University Degree in a relevant discipline (mathematics, statistics, natural sciences or actuarial science)
  • Experience and expertise in underwriting or practical experience with cat modelling software (RMS, AIR)
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills with a working knowledge of SQL; programming skills would be beneficial
  • Builds relationships with internal and external clients in support of business objectives
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office products and aptitude for new computer systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills
  • Ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years of reinsurance/insurance experience
