About the Role

The Dietary Aide/Culinary Assistant is responsible for preparing and serving meals for patients, ensuring food quality, presentation, and service delivery meet established department standards. This includes following production sheets to guide food preparation, assisting with cost control, and familiarizing oneself with the specific needs of each client, such as diet restrictions, allergies, and special requests.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve meals for patients, ensuring food quality, presentation, and service delivery meet established department standards.
  • Follow production sheets to guide food preparation and assist with cost control.
  • Familiarize oneself with the specific needs of each client, such as diet restrictions, allergies, and special requests.
  • Assist with the process for checking and receiving of deliveries and inventory control, ensuring all supplies are stored, labelled, and rotated properly.
  • Participate in the client and employee incident reporting and investigation process as required.
  • Report areas and equipment in need of repair to the maintenance department.
  • Ensure kitchen appearance meets established standards for cleanliness and organization.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or GED.
  • Food Handlers Certification.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong customer service skills and a passion for serving seniors.
  • Previous experience in the culinary field and familiarity with preparing plates for clients.
  • Advanced proficiency in the English language is required, proficiency in other languages considered an asset.
