Position Overview: We are seeking a USV Operations Specialist to join our dynamic Ocean Services team. This role involves the management and operation of Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs) in various marine environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the deployment of USVs, including mission planning and logistical coordination.
- Conduct international travel to facilitate USV operations globally.
- Operate USVs, ensuring safe transportation, deployment, retrieval, and mission oversight.
- Manage crewed support vessels while adhering to safety regulations.
- Prepare comprehensive field and project documentation, collaborating with project managers to support ongoing initiatives.
- Participate in shift work, including 24/7 operations in remote settings.
- Coordinate with local authorities to secure necessary approvals for operations.
- Gather oceanographic and meteorological data during missions.
- Engage in training sessions and contribute to the development of training materials.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to enhance new builds and test sensor integrations.
- Collaborate with sales and project managers to estimate project efforts and budgets.
- Act as a liaison with stakeholders and clients, leading specific projects or initiatives.
- Educate the public about our mission, objectives, and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maritime fieldwork, particularly with remotely operated technologies.
- Strong technical troubleshooting abilities.
- Degree in natural sciences, engineering, or data sciences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey scientific information clearly.
- Understanding of oceanographic data collection and scientific field operations.
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a boat operator training course, SVOP (Small Vessel Operator Proficiency) or higher.
- Certification in SDV-BS (Small Domestic Vessel—Basic Safety).
- Marine First Aid Certificate.
