Your mission:

Under the supervision of the Engineering Superintendent, the Facilities Preservation Specialist (FPS) is tasked with managing the decade-long strategy for infrastructure, ensuring the optimal preservation and upkeep of our facilities. You will be instrumental in the formulation and implementation of significant maintenance and capital initiatives, while prioritizing safety and adherence to engineering regulations.

  • Safety Management:
    • Guarantee that project teams and contractors comply with safety protocols, exceeding regulatory standards
    • Track leading safety indicators, including UKG, DATS, FLHA's, Contractor Safety Observations, and Incident Investigations
  • Engineering Compliance:
    • Adhere to project management and engineering protocols, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards
    • Employ essential engineering systems, demonstrating knowledge of design standards, codes, and safety protocols
    • Oversee documentation related to projects, equipment, and maintenance practices
  • Capital and Major Maintenance Oversight:
    • Plan and implement projects that align with the annual capital and major maintenance strategy
    • Utilize the Project Development Process, CMMS, and CCMS systems effectively
    • Estimate project expenditures and prepare necessary documentation for budget considerations
    • Supervise project execution, commissioning, and optimization processes
  • Operational and Maintenance Support:
    • Oversee concrete restoration, structural steel inspections and repairs, roofing, paving, and underpinning initiatives
    • Manage the Quality Management Program (QMP) and revise design standards as needed
    • Assist with obtaining trenching and excavation permits
    • Provide insights for enhancing facility maintainability and reliability

Your profile:

  • Familiarity with OH&S safety regulations
  • Proven leadership, mentorship, and coaching capabilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and/or Solid Works
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (Maximo)

  • A strong desire for personal and professional growth
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with eligibility for P.Eng registration
  • Experience in an industrial setting, preferably within a pulp mill
  • Familiarity with small structural and lifting monorail design
