About the Opportunity

The Program Specialist plays a crucial role in implementing healthy development standards to support social, economic, and physical environments for healthy pregnancies, birth outcomes, parenting, and child development. With expertise in pre and postnatal healthy development, the Specialist synthesizes data and evidence to apply comprehensive, evidence-informed policies and strategies for the pre and postnatal and early childhood populations.

The Specialist provides leadership and advanced knowledge in population health and healthy development to reduce health inequities and address the determinants of health. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert-level advice, evidence, and best practices on advancing the understanding of early years work
  • Coordinating projects, initiatives, and teams working on specific content issues
  • Contributing to knowledge translation by retrieving, assessing, and synthesizing complex research findings
  • Collaboratively developing tools, indicators, and measures to enable an understanding of early years work and its translation related to specific issues
About You

We are seeking a highly qualified candidate with a strong background in public health, health-related fields, or other relevant areas. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Masters in public health, health-related, or other relevant fields with 3 years of relevant experience
  • Baccalaureate degree in a health-related field or other relevant field with 5 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of and experience in early years population and programming
  • Knowledge of and experience in media advocacy and communications
  • Knowledge of and experience in oppression as a social determinant of health, awareness, and study of one's own power and privilege, and appropriate public health approaches to reduce health inequities
  • Knowledge of and experience working with evidence-informed decision-making tools and practices, conducting rapid evidence reviews, and producing evidence briefs
  • Knowledge of and experience in innovative systems thinking with an understanding of working with communities and community-based organizations
  • Knowledge of and experience in interacting with municipal units, communities, and community leadership within zones
  • Knowledge of and experience with project management techniques and processes
  • Knowledge and experience with community development and mobilization
Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position with 70 hours biweekly. The hourly rate is $39.23 - $49.23. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
