Position Overview:
As a pivotal member of the Claims team, the Senior Claims Specialist for Casualty will leverage their extensive expertise to manage intricate claims effectively. This role emphasizes a commitment to excellence and fosters a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional development among colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating coverage and drafting pertinent correspondence for brokers and insured parties as necessary.
  • Guiding independent adjusters in the thorough investigation of claims.
  • Assessing and negotiating timely resolutions for claims across various jurisdictions.
  • Collaborating with internal and external legal counsel to establish and implement effective litigation strategies for claims in dispute.
  • Facilitating communication with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Underwriting, brokers, reinsurers, external vendors) to ensure optimal customer service. Participation in account and renewal discussions may be required.
  • Consulting with Claims management and Claims Legal on significant losses to ensure all measures are taken for favorable outcomes.
  • Maintaining detailed file notes, preparing internal reports, timely reserving, issuing payments, and setting electronic file diaries in accordance with best practices.
  • Identifying, monitoring, and reporting on emerging trends within the insurance sector and legislative developments.

You will report directly to the Claims Manager for Casualty.

Qualifications:
We seek candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Significant experience in handling Bodily Injury/Casualty and Litigation claims.
  • Proficiency in managing both Commercial General Liability (CGL) and Auto Bodily Injury claims.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Possession or pursuit of Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation is preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Highly organized with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
