About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team at YW Kitchener-Waterloo. As a key member of our childcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to children in our centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Childcare and Education: Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Child Supervision: Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, and assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Record Keeping: Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records and submitting written observations on children.
  • Communication: Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings and establish guidelines for behaviour.
  • Teamwork: Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
Requirements
  • Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications: Emergency child care first aid and CPR, HIGH FIVE training (principles of healthy child development), and membership in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
  • Skills: Excellent written communication, punctuality, dependability, and reliability.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: Noisy, physically demanding, and requiring a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
