Senior Claims Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Claims Specialist to join our team at 570 The Dominion of Canada General. As a Senior Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving complex and severe claims in accordance with industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Claims Investigation and Evaluation: Conduct thorough investigations of complex claims, gathering and analyzing evidence to determine liability and damages.
- Liability and Damages Analysis: Evaluate liability and damages exposure, establishing and maintaining proper indemnity and expense reserves.
- Customer Service and Communication: Provide exceptional customer service, communicating with policyholders, claimants, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective resolution of claims.
- Business Partnership and Collaboration: Collaborate with underwriting business partners to ensure accurate and adequate loss reserves, recommending cases for discussion at roundtable meetings.
- Expert Litigation Management: Act as an expert technical resource, attending depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings as needed.
- Training and Development: Provide coaching and mentoring to less experienced claim professionals, sharing expertise and best practices to improve bench strength.
- Education and Experience: College degree or equivalent business experience, with 10+ years of claim handling experience and 5-7 years of experience handling serious injury and complex liability claims.
- Skills and Knowledge: Advanced skills in coverage, liability, and damages analysis, with expert understanding of the litigation process in all Canadian jurisdictions. Strong negotiation and customer service skills, with ability to adapt to and support cultural change.
- Licensing and Certification: Insurance License(s) may be required to comply with provincial and Travelers requirements.
