Job Summary

As a Transportation Coordinator at North Island College, you will operate a designated vehicle to transport students to and from college activities. This role requires interacting with students, employees, and the general public in a professional manner. You will be responsible for conducting daily and routine inspections on the vehicle, maintaining its cleanliness, and adhering to safety rules and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Class 2 Driver's License, including additional courses/training in defensive driving, and a minimum of three years of professional driving experience. You will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage safety-sensitive situations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate a designated college vehicle in a safe and professional manner.
2. Transport students to and from various college activities.
3. Conduct pre-trip, in-service, and end-service inspections in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Act and BC Professional Driver's Manual.
4. Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections and repairs.
5. Adhere to trip schedules, safety rules, and regulations.
6. Clean the vehicle after each trip and wash it as required.
7. Report defects and required repairs to the responsible administrator.
8. Install tire chains in inclement weather.
9. Communicate effectively with students, employees, and the public as a representative of the college.
10. Advise the responsible administrator of road conditions and hazards.
11. Perform other assigned duties within the scope of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position.

Required Qualifications:
1. Completion of Grade 12.
2. Valid Class 2 Driver's License.
3. Minimum three years of professional driving experience.
4. Valid OFA Level 1 First Aid certificate.
5. Exemplary driving record.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and regulations.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Ability to manage safety-sensitive situations.
4. Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting a maximum of 50 lbs.
