Financial Analyst/Senior Financial Analyst

Meridia Recruitment Solutions is collaborating with a premier intellectual property firm in Canada to identify a Financial Analyst and/or a Senior Financial Analyst to become a vital part of their National Finance Team.

Key Responsibilities:


• Facilitate the integration of financial accounts within a global public corporation, ensuring efficient processes, data integrity, and adherence to regulations.

• Create innovative financial metrics to enhance business performance and support data-informed decision-making.

• Execute account reconciliations for selected asset and liability accounts, working closely with stakeholders to address outstanding issues swiftly.

• Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries related to banking transactions, intercompany billings, expense distributions, and routine accruals.

• Contribute to ongoing budgeting and forecasting initiatives.

• Aid in sales tax compliance and manage monthly filings.

• Conduct monthly variance analysis of expenditures, comparing actual outcomes to budgeted figures and presenting insights to management.

• Establish continuous data collection systems for newly developed corporate reporting.

• Assist with the initial IFRS annual financial statement audit and fulfill half-year public company reporting requirements.

• Generate comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reports.

• Provide assistance for ad-hoc financial inquiries and finance-related projects as necessary.

Required Qualifications:


• Prior experience in a finance or accounting setting.

• Post-secondary education with a concentration in accounting.

• A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or actively pursuing CPA certification.

• Familiarity with international finance reporting standards (IFRS).

• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Understanding of robust internal controls.

• High proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, coupled with a commitment to professional development.

• Effective communication skills among finance and accounting professionals.

• A solid work ethic and meticulous attention to detail.

• Capability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks, and deliver timely, high-quality results.

• Aptitude for automating and optimizing financial processes and procedures.

• Proficiency in Power Query is a plus.
