Course Title: GLA2043HS Real-Time Data for AI and Global Intelligence

Course Synopsis:

This seminar investigates the transformative potential of contemporary digital datasets and advancements in artificial intelligence to tackle pressing global challenges. Traditional data often fails to reflect the complexities of modern economies and societies, whereas the proliferation of digital technologies generates vast amounts of real-time data daily.

Participants will explore how this data surge, coupled with enhanced computational capabilities, can drive significant progress in AI applications. The course will cover practical examples, such as utilizing satellite imagery for monitoring socio-economic conditions or employing AI tools to identify critical resources and assess global risks.

The curriculum is designed to be accessible, aiming to familiarize students with the latest developments in data analytics and AI while critically examining the associated opportunities and challenges. Through interactive discussions, guest lectures, and hands-on assignments, students will engage with non-traditional data sources and AI methodologies to analyze global events and issues.

Course Logistics:

Estimated Enrollment: 25 students

Class Schedule: Thursdays, 10 AM - 12 PM

Sessional Dates: January to April

Compensation:

Salary varies based on experience and qualifications, with rates outlined in the collective agreement.

Qualifications:

Minimum: A graduate degree in International Relations.

Preferred: Prior teaching experience in relevant fields.

Responsibilities:

Key duties include:

  • Developing course syllabus and materials
  • Conducting weekly lectures
  • Holding office hours for student support
  • Assessing student assignments and providing feedback
